Social Service
Social service at Obra do Berço aims at guaranteeing the children and their families rights, and at preventing situations of violence.
Our work is to regularly monitor the social and family situation in which the children are inserted. In addition to family monitoring, we work together with members of the Child and Adolescent Rights Guarantee System, such as CRAS (Centro de Referência de Assistência Social), CREAS (Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social) and Conselhos Tutelares (Safeguarding Children and Adolescent Board) in order to meet the complex demands brought by families in an attempt to ensure healthy conditions for the development of children.
A fight against social inequality
Há 20 anos trabalho na Obra do Berço como Assistente Social. O exercício da profissão na área de Assistência Social é um privilégio e, ao mesmo tempo, um desafio, pois atuamos na luta contra as desigualdades sociais e buscamos incansavelmente garantir que nosso público alvo, as crianças e suas famílias, tenham acesso aos seus direitos e encontrem alternativas para superação de suas dificuldades. Com isso, colaboramos na conquista de sua autonomia e construção de um futuro mais digno, com os responsáveis assumindo seus filhos e proporcionando aos mesmos melhores condições de vida. Cabe ao Assistente Social muito mais do que “ajudar”.
We are responsible for protecting and guaranteeing the rights of the population, besides guiding and making people aware of their rights and social benefits. Our actions are carefully based on studies and surveys on real life events experienced by people and groups, and on the awareness of specific legal norms. Throughout these years, my experience at Obra do Berço has provided me not only with professional, but also with personal growth. We live special moments when we achieve our goals and the Institution's results. Especially when it comes to the integral protection of our children, the preservation and strengthening of family bonds and of social relationships. In this way, we ensure our users' access to basic services and inclusion policies.
Nosso objetivo é continuar investindo na busca por justiça social para nossas crianças, garantindo que sejam sujeitos de direitos e tenham oportunidades para o seu desenvolvimento pleno, em condições de liberdade e dignidade.
